My family and I have been scouting out local farmer’s markets and fruit stands trying to find fresher and less expensive produce.  It seems to me that the standard grocery store produce is more expensive, less fresh and lacking in variety.  Picked up these crisp flavorful beans over the weekend and threw together this recipe…

Garlic Green Beans With Toasted Almonds!

Garlic Green Beans With Toasted Almonds

Ingredients:

1 pound fresh green beans

1/2 cup sliced almonds

1 Tablespoon coconut oil

1-2 teaspoons fresh minced garlic

Sea Salt (to taste)

Begin by toasting the almonds. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Lay the sliced almonds in a single layer on a cookie sheet.  Bake for about 10 minutes, stirring once about half-way through.

While the almonds are toasting, wash green beans and cut off the ends.

Heat the coconut oil and minced garlic in a frying pan.  Toss fresh beans in the hot oil for about a minute, add salt to taste.

Throw in the toasted almonds and cook for another minute or two.  If you like your vegetables crisp like I do, be careful not to over cook.
