When we were building our new townhome, we were able to choose some colors, flooring and cabinets, but all the light fixtures were standard. I don’t mind this one in the dining area, but it just needed some character. I thought about spray painting it, but as I have not yet mastered that art, I figured I’d better go with something a little more foolproof. I was inspired by Christmas garlands and ornaments for a quick fix! Also picked up a dimmer switch because this light had only one setting…blindingly bright!
I found this garland at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas section. When I purchased it I thought it was one long strand and I planned to drape it around the fixture several times. When I got it home and started unwinding it, I realized it was one strand with lots of individual strands hanging down. It wasn’t what I expected, but I ended up really liking it. I simply wrapped and loosely draped it all around the fixture.
I found the crystal ornaments at TJMax in the Christmas section. I was originally looking for tear dropped shaped crystals, but loved the unique shape of these small ornaments. I used small metal ornament hooks to attach these to each arm of the fixture.
I really like how it turned out and that it will be easy to switch up if I want a change. What simple changes have you made in your decor? I’m always looking for new ideas! Blessings! ~Kelly
