31 Days of Homemade Holidays! Day 14:Owl Pillow Box

Oct 13, 2012 Categories: 31 Days of Homemade Holidays, Decorating, Kids

Christmas in October?  Yep, it’s happening today!  I have been so excited to share this one with you!  Owl Pillow boxes!

Supplies:

Kraft colored pillow boxes (from a local craft store)

Scrapbook paper (for wings)

Yellow cardstock (for beaks)

Buttons (for eyes)

Felt (for scarf)

Scissors

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Choose coordinating colors of paper for wings, buttons for eyes and felt for a scarf.  Fold the scrapbook paper in half and cut two equal half circles for the wings.  Use decorative scissors if you have them available.

Keep the pillow box flat until all pieces are glued on.  Glue the wings, eyes and nose in place with a hot glue gun.  Cut a thin strip from the sheet of felt and fringe cut the ends.  Stretch the felt, as far as you can, before you tie it on the owl.

Pop open the pillow box and close the ends, then tie the scarf around the owl.  Perfect for a gift card, jewelry or some other small gift!

I love how these turned out!  :-) Many more Christmas projects ahead of us!  Keep up with me on Facebook to see them all!

Adorable! I love owls, and they’re so popular right now, so I know these will be the best way to wrap a few gifts this fall. Thank you for the idea!

No comment box? I’ll have to figure that out…thanks! I love getting to see what everyone else is sharing. So fun to do this with a community and not feel like I am out there in cyberspace alone :-)
