Homemade Holidays! Day 7: Owl Banner…I love how today’s project turned out! I made it as a Thanksgiving banner, but it can be customized for any holiday. Just choose the appropriate colors and phrase!
Supplies for the Owl Banner:
Scrapbook paper, cardstock, ribbon, double-sided tape, black paint and stencils (or stickers), google eyes
First, cut out the owl shapes from the scrapbook paper. Cut out one for each letter in the phrase you want to say. My phrase is “Give Thanks.” The owl shape is a tear drop with the bottom cut straight. You can make them whatever size you want/need, but mine are 5 1/2 x 4 inches.
For the lettering, I cut out a rectangle (2 x 1 1/2 inches) for each letter. Then I stenciled out my phrase. I rounded the corners with scissors for a more complete look.
Now all the pieces need to be put together. Use the double-sided tape to put the letters in place, fold over the top point of the paper to make the owl “beak” and tape the eyes in place.
Arrange the owls to spell out your phrase and hook each one on the ribbon. Tape down the beaks to hold the owls in place.
Find a fun place to hang and viola! I love how this banner turned out!
