31 Days of Homemade Holidays! Day 23:Wreath Bread

Gloomy, rainy day here in Illinois today!  How about where you are?  Perfect day to stay inside and bake some bread!

Day 23:Wreath Bread!

2 cups warm water

2 packets granulated yeast

1 Tbsp salt

3 beaten eggs

1/2 cup honey

1/3 cup olive oil

7-8 cups flour (I used 2 cups oat flour and the rest all-purpose flour)

In a large bowl, mix together water, yeast, salt, beaten eggs, honey and oil.  When mixed well add the flour.  Mix and then knead slightly in the bowl.  Cover the bowl and let rise until doubled. (about 2 hours) This recipe makes enough for two wreaths or you can make one wreath and one regular loaf in a bread pan.

After the dough rises split it in half and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Form into a ball and poke a hole in the middle.  Stretch out the circle to about eight inches.

Use kitchen shears to cut at an angle towards the center of the bread, just almost cutting through.

Brush the dough with a mix of 1 egg and 1 Tbsp water and sprinkle with sesame seeds if you like.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
