31 Days of Homemade Holidays! Day 16:Salt Dough Ornaments

Day 16:  Salt Dough Ornaments!  This one is so easy, you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen right now!

Dough Ingredients:

2 cups flour

1 cup salt

1 cup warm water

Decorating Supplies:

Rolling pin

Circle cookie cutters (I used a parmesan cheese lid and a tin can)

Button, fork, shells, rubber stamps, lids (to make impressions in the dough)

Drinking Straw (to cut out a hole for the ribbon)

Parchment paper

Mod Podge Shimmer

Mix together flour and salt, then gradually stir in the water.  Mix well and then knead until it is a smooth dough, about 5-10 minutes.

Cut out circles and lay on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Use the straw to cut a hole at the top of your ornament.

Use the buttons, shells, stamps or whatever else you can find to make impressions to decorate the salt dough.

To dry, bake at 200 degrees for 1-2 hours depending on the thickness of the ornaments.

When the ornaments are completely cool, paint with Shimmer Mod Podge and tie on a ribbon when dry!

  1. These are so cute! Your series has been great so far. I’ve really enjoyed it. The ideas are cute and simple enough that my daughter can help. We made the jack o’ lantern canning jars already. Thank you!

  2. First of all I want to say Shaklee is a great company and I am glad to see representation. I use Shaklee regularly in my home and love it. Also I am so glad you shared these because I am always looking for fun things to do with the kids when the time changes and it gets dark earlier. I came to visit from the cure for the common Monday Link up and I am now your newest follower. I like what I see here on your blog. And we have great taste our backgrounds are the same :)

  3. Hi Patricia! So funny that we have the same background! I am, of course, also in love with Shaklee! It has done wonders for my son’s asthma and skin issues. Are you a Tupperware Consultant? Years ago my mom used and went to Tupperware Parties…I’ll have to check out your site! Thanks for stopping by!
